probably meant for 3-4 year olds.

I felt this book was easier than I hoped it would be. I originally bought it for my 1st grader to see roughly how he might do when GATE tested this year. When he blew through it, I gave it to my 4 year old who also completed it easily by himself. It was a bit expensive so I was hoping that there would be challenges that we could discuss and work through together. However, I give it 5 stars anyway because the boys enjoyed it and it kept their attention. If you think your child is developing for the magnet program, I would recommend this book for 3-4 year olds.

I and my son really like the this book

I and my son really like the this book. I am trying to help my 4 year old son get ready for his g&t exam. I like the fact that the questions in here to make him think. We have been doing section by section. It's colorful and he enjoys doing it. It is so important to get him familiar with questions. I think that helps a lot. I also bought the NNAT book from this publisher. I would recommend this.

Incredibly expensive for what you get...I paid about $25. My 4 year old loved the questions but also said that these questions were not like the ones she had on the actual g&t test.

Cabrera is the best!

If your looking for a book on the afro-cuban religions, this is possibly the best one written. Cuban anthropologist Lydia Cabrera has written one of the best books on the subject. She discusses the myths, rituals and history of the religions derived from the congo and from the yoruba people who were brought as slaves into Cuba. In addition, Cabrera's text has a mamomth dictionary of various herbs, fruits, and vegetables, explaining who their spiritual owner is in addition to what the item can be used for. Cabrera also discusses the secret society of the Nanigos. It's a shame that this text has yet to be translated into English as it deserves to have a wider audience. Nonetheless, if you can read in spanish and are interested in this subject, this is definately a book to buy!

Lydia's books are all very nice when it comes to the explanation of things and their history.

As a notice to the readers of Afro-Cuban Religion books;

Take the readings only as theory since the practice varies greatly amongst the branches of the religions. You have to be iniciated in, Palo, Santo, Ifa, or Abakua to learn the real secrets, so don't expect to read them on a book. Some of the authors present you with too much information, like actual rituals and the making of talismans...Don't do it, as it is disrespectful to the dieties, and to the practioners, not to mentention the bad consecuences which your curiosity might bring upon you.

So read on for educational purposes and don't allow your curiosity to get you in trouble :) .

I also recomend any of the books by Natalia Bol�var Ar�stegui, an excellent writer in the field and having met her in person I can tell you that she's very dedicated.

At 13 years old, this young man has so much wisdom, passion, and authenticity! His personal stories and tangible examples make it easy for both kids and adults to understand and apply the keys to being successful. I bought this for my son and decided to read it and will definitely continue to apply the keys to my life. Another thing I love about this book is that a lot of people are scared of super big books. This book is a good quick read but extremely packed with wealth of knowledge. I can definitely see any kid finishing this book and not being bored.

Author Only 12 When He Wrote This!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. I've only gotten through the first two chapters and they were well-written and actually helpful. But then my son found it and he basically hasn't put it down! I first "met" Caleb on Instagram, then followed him on Snapchat. He is fun to watch on there, unlike some of the older guys who use SC to promo their similar businesses. Caleb, you rock!

Contracting Out: An Expert Writes an Outstanding Book

Professor Simon Domberger, an international authority on contracting out (outsourcing) has written THE book on this subject. Domberger has advised many governments and private companies on outsourcing; his wealth of experience is reflected in this 200+ page volume. In it, he carefully analyzes the costs and benefits of contracting out, using a wealth of examples and case studies to drive home his points. Further, Domberger places contracting out in its broader context -- as one of the strategies businesses and public organizations can use to improve, respectively, their bottom line or their delivery of public services. He squarely faces such issues as resistance to contracting out within the outsourcing organizations and suggests practical ways of coping with such hurdles.
In short, this book should be found in the library of every firm and public organization that is already contracting out and wishes to improve its operations. Furthermore, it is a "Must Read" for decision-makers who are contemplating contracting out for the first time.

Good overview for non-economists

While the book begins with the usual benefits of outsourcing and how the world is becoming globalized yada yada, two chapters are well worth the used copy price. They offer a nice review of research in economics research journals such as American Economic Review. The first is Chapter 5 on "Specialization", which discusses the economic side of specialization by outsourcing. It makes a compelling argument for both how outsourcing facilitates deeper specialization and the risks that are inherent in treading this path. The second worthy chapter is Chapter 7 on "Control and Flexiblity." This chapter reviews how outsourced activities ought to be controlled, how contracts ought to be structured, and the residual rights that often cause problems. A note of caution for non-academic readers: This is a research-focused book and not (in my opinion) intended for a general audience. The tone is very academic, so don't expect to see a Harvard Business Review style light reading here! The writing style is more like Management Science than American Economic Review. Browse at your local Borders before you buy. There are some insightful nuggets in this nice and concisely-written book. Recommended.

There is nothing new and nothing of value here, except a desperate attempt to push a narrative that is not supported by the facts nor resembles anything close to the realities of the industry.

Lacking anything in really new material that can't be found online, this 'book' is a pure money grab by people that can't hack it in the industry itself, have nothing of value to add and weren't even willing to write a whole lot of new material to publish it.

Unfortunately just a collection of blog posts you could find just as well elsewhere.

I wanted to like this book when I bought it, but it really wasn't what I was expecting. You can kind of save your money and just google the usual gaming sites, because most of what's been said here has been said before and about just as well. That's really the problem here, I was kind of expecting a stronger and more well constructed set of arguments then the usual strong opinion expressed as fact stuff you find on blogs now a days. There isn't really an over arching theme or high level in depth analysis into anything. (Though, from the tone of the writing, a few seem to think that's what they are doing, but again its that painful supposition based on supposition level stuff you find on most pseudo-academic blogs). In the end, that's really what it is; a loose collection of blog posts turned into a book. I guess when I read the title and saw who wrote it, I was expecting "The State of Play" - stuff that I could really sink my teeth into. Instead, I got chicken soup for the gamer. If that's what you want, that's fine, this is probably a 4 in that regard, but I really just wanted something a lot more substantial then this. Serves me right for buying just any old gaming book, I guess. Oh well.

Not good for learning

This book was assigned for my public policy class.

For one, although the analysis is insightful, it is overstated. The basic ideas expressed in each chapter can be said in fewer words. The author offers many examples but fails to effectively teach the concepts behind what the the exercises require.

One example was problem 6-3 when trying to find an aggregate demand curve. The calculation involved adding the prices instead of adding up quantities for each specific price (the standard way of aggregating demand). In order to complete the exercises I ended up using youtube and wikipedia to get a better comprehension. To get the answers, I just completed multiple calculations mixing and matching the numbers.

A textbook is supposed to be the crutch of a course, but this one actually made the course worse.

If you are a professor, please DON'T ASSIGN THIS BOOK! There are other choices, and if you want your students to understand what you're talking about, don't assign it. Even the most motivated student will find that they'll spend more time trying to comprehend the topic than actually being able to work with it.

It should be in your library

Lee Friedman's "The Microeconomics of Public Policy Analysis" provides an excellent discussion of a wide range of microeconomic analysis topics including individual choice,uncertainty, allocation of resources over time, equity, economic costs, efficiency, taxation, externalities, alternative interventions and organizational analysis. Each chapter centers on a policy problem. Readers lacking a strong economics background will find the discussions frustrating, but that is the nature of the topic. Economics is not "beanbag." Prof. Friedman has buttressed his discussions with footnotes that refer the reader to seminal writings on the chapter topics. The relevant mathematics have been stored in appendices and provide an alternative perspective for the interested reader. This book belongs in the library of every serious policy wonk.

A fresh perspective of hydrology

Global Hydrology is distinct from the other Hydrology books in the sense that it clearly shows the signifcance of Hydrology as related to the real-world problems. There are no long derivations and governing equations; rather, it focuses on the processes and develops an understanding of the underlying physics. The chapters relating to environmental aspects are particularly appealing.

When we think of the cow, we will not forget the demands of the grass. When we examine the grass, we will always bear in mind the demands of the cow.

It is by satisfying as far as possible the demands of both parties that we will arrive at a rational grazing, which will provide us with maximum productivity on the part of the grass while at the same time allowing the cow to give optimum performance.

About the Author

Andre Voisin is a member of The Acad�mie d'Agriculture de France in Paris. He was a biochemist by training, but a farmer by inclination. He was known to spend long hours watching his cows grazing his fields in Normandy, which inspired his "rational grazing" management plan theory.

It is outstanding that we are still reluctant to understand the proper use of grazing, The author is the original founder of "rational grazing" (1957 !!)and even for other non-temperate areas it is still a classic worth reading and rereading, not for nothing is the basis of Holistic Range Management by Savory.

With pretty ordinary grass and pretty ordinary grazing animals

This is the book that started the grazing revolution, the real green revolution in my opinion, as the "official" green revolution initiated by Norman Borlaug isn't so green after all--relying as it does on the seed companies, the mining companies, the chemical companies, etc. With pretty ordinary grass and pretty ordinary grazing animals, one can start really making pasture produce food. So few believe it, and even fewer actually do it. I see all around me 10' tall corn grown where all of it will be chopped up into silage and fed to herds. A food not fit for the animals, but grown because it looks so big and impressive. So much work. Tilling, planting, spraying fertilizer, harvesting, blowing into the silo, rationing it out of the silo, hauling it around. But with some cheap fence, and a little intelligence, the same number of animals could be sustained on itty-bitty ryegrass/bluegrass/white clover pastures that are intensively managed. And the animals wont get so loose that you need to put on your knee high rubber "farm" boots to wade into your "dry lot." Instead, you can put on sandals, or go barefoot. You wont need big silos, big harvesters, big tractors, "steer-stuffers" (silage chopper/blower), silage wagons, and a monthly diesel fuel delivery bill. All you'll have is a littl seed bill and a little fertilizer bill every year and all you'll need is some cheap fence and a pickup or old, cheap tractor, and cheap tools like broadcast seeders, post hole diggers, hammers, fence tools, etc.

This book is worth reading, but if one wants a hasty version, head over to Wikipedia and enter the authors name. The essentials are there (now). But if you can get this book from a library or you want to pay to buy it it just might change the entire way you see the agricultural landscape. The best modern update to the concepts in this book I have found is Bill Murphy's Green Pastures on Your Side of the Fence. If you don't start with Voisin (who isn't an easy read), then start with Murphy.

A needed read

This is a good book and a have to read if you want to know about rotational grazing. This is more up to date information out now but this book explains some things the newer books do not.
