The book is divided into 3 sections that build upon each other. Part 1 has 4 lesson and is entitled "Basic Skills" and covers filing, lathe work, pivoting, and jeweling. Part 2 has 4 lesson on clock repairing. And the last section, part 3, has 13 lessons and covers all aspects of watch repairing. It makes up the majority of the 444 page book. The book is written in the old-school way of learning repairs. Much focus is given early in the book on proper filing for example. While the lessons were written in the early part of the 1920s, it continued to be updated into the 1930's and 40's. The updates were described as "completely revised, improved, and considerably enlarged" Being a home study course that has the intention of teaching the student all that is required to open a watch repair business, the lessons are all very hands-on and application oriented in nature. Some scientific information is included, but that is not the overall focus. There is much pride shown in the book by the authors and their desire to impart the knowledge they have of watch repair shows throughout the entire book.

About the Author

Sandra P. Rosenblum has lectured widely on performance practices at universities, schools of music, and both national and international conferences. The author of numerous journal articles and of editions of sonatas by Scarlatti and Clementi, Ms. Rosenblum holds degrees from Wellesley College and Harvard University. She has been the recipient of fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies and the Radcliffe Institute. Her present research is on the music of Chopin.

Exactly what I've been searching for long long long time!

As a piano instructor, I thought that C.P.E.Bach's The True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments should be the comprehensive companion on performance practice, but found it is a little bit old in some ways. Then one of my friends who is on piano faculty at the Michigan University in An Arbor recommended this book to me. I believe this book is the exact guide to me when talking about performance practice on mordern piano especially in stylistic interpretation on general issues, such as how to deal with small slurs in different classical composers, different expression marks, etc. Great in many ways.

una fabula sobre la humanidad

El Se�or de las Moscas William Golding La isla desierta, el segundo comienzo de la humanidad, la juventud e inexperiencia de sus ocupantes, la relajaci�n de los controles morales y la gradual ca�da de sus habitantes en la inercia y la anarqu�a, estos son los elementos que encontramos en el se�or de las moscas. Me pregunto que seria de mi si estuviese en esa situaci�n, caer�a en la anarqu�a o tratar�a e imitar la decadente sociedad de la que vengo? Aunque estoy de acuerdo con el autor en muchas cosas, no estoy de acuerdo con la premisa de que el mal es innato y que la supresi�n de los controles provoque caos. Quiz�s sea yo el menos indicado para se�alar esto y solo sea un simple so�ador, ya que en mis a�os de colegio fui un Piggy cualquiera, blanco de las burlas y las mofas de los m�s astutos aunque menos intelectuales que yo. Y despu�s en mi vida adulta como profesor he visto que el egocentrismo de los ni�os los lleva a veces a ser crueles con sus compa�eros. Pero aun me resisto a creer, deseo firmemente demostrar que ese proceso puede revertirse, aunque veo que por lo visto en los �ltimos tiempos la violencia infantil en las escuelas por parte de ni�os ha aumentado bastante. La novela sin embargo trata el punto de vista del autor que supo expresar sus pensamientos magistralmente, aunque debo decir que las descripciones de la selva me resultaron cansonas. Pero eso ya es culpa m�a, pues nunca he sido muy adepto a las descripciones de paisajes, siendo atra�do enormemente en cambio por los aspectos psicol�gicos de las obras...... Descripci�n de la obra Esta obra de William Golding es una f�bula al estilo ingles ( parece ser que a los ingleses les encanta escribir este tipo de f�bula moralista de mundos en decadencia. Solo tenemos que acordarnos de Un Mundo Feliz, 1984, Hacienda de Animales y otras mas, todas sobre mundos o sociedades en su ocaso o dominados por seres autoritarios) en que un grupo de PRE-adolescentes y ni�os se ve atrapado en una isla desierta . Los personajes principales de la obra reflejan cada uno una condici�n distinta del ser humano. Ralph, el gobernante elegido por el grupo, tiene buenas intenciones, don de mando, y una inteligencia por encima de la mediocridad aunque no siempre tiene las mejores ideas. Se apoya inconscientemente en Piggy y solo al final se da cuenta de que era el �nico amigo verdadero y el �nico con visi�n suficiente para pensar casi como adulto. Piggy representa la inteligencia, no siempre escuchada cuando se mueven otros intereses, a veces solo cuando es demasiado tarde. Jack es el antagonista por excelencia, en busca de poder no escatima en esfuerzos por satisfacer sus ansias de ser un gobernante de la isla y dar rienda suelta a instintos que quiz�s en un mundo civilizado hubiesen permanecido acallados. Su odio visceral hacia Piggy desde un principio es el odio hacia el sentido com�n que le impedir�an dar rienda suelta a sus ambiciones y man�as. La historia puede prestarse a m�ltiples interpretaciones, pero creo que la mas clara de ellas es la sombr�a visi�n del autor hacia la humanidad en si y de c�mo el mal es algo innato que surge en el ser humano una vez se han relajado los controles que lo mantienen a raya... Le� este libro muy joven, 15 a�os. A esa edad fue uno de los que m�s me impresion� de todo lo que hab�a le�do, y a esa edad hab�a le�do mucho: desde Poe, Agatha Christie, Mart�, y muchos otros. Le�a sin preferencias.
Creo que ahora que tengo el doble de la edad voy a darle una segunda lectura.

Amazing Series

I really enjoyed this book, it really started slow. I started getting into it with Riley and Ariela's first scene together.
I really enjoyed seeing all the Eastbrooke kids in the future. Seeing how their doing, their lives. Everything. I love reading things like that. They all had great chemistry together. Its amazing how people can change so much in 10 years.
Although I didn't like this as much as the first 7. It was still reallly good. I really liked the stalking part of the first 7 it made the books much better. But I am definately going to keep reading. Because I still LOVE all the characters. I cant wait to see where they go next.
My heart did break over a couple of people in the future. Such sad ending for a couple people. But overall I really enjoyed this. Still a wonderful story.

This is the continuation of a series about rich high school students -- now they all work at the same film company (where it seems like little work is being done) or are closely associated with it in some capacity. They still hang out and relate to each other as if they were sixteen -- nobody new enters the clique and hardly anybody ever leaves. This leads to silly scenes where they awkwardly recount events from ten years ago as if they just happened. Although I don't know -- if I never made new friends after the age of sixteen, I might have also found it hard to retire teenage drama.

The author's fascination with the high school lives of the characters is endless to the point of implausibility. I found it hard to swallow that their adolescent drama was interesting enough to inspire not one, but THREE blockbuster films, but this is what we are asked to believe.

Fans of the original series may find this an enjoyable continuation. The rest of us may find the drama over-wrought and slightly dull (two friends want to sleep with the same actress, that sort of thing) and the characters both ridiculous and indistinguishable apart from their trendy names.

An excuse to live in Keatyn's crazy world a little bit longer…

I can best describe the Keatyn Chronicles as a masterfully addictive conundrum. A guilty pleasure. An incessant drama that got under my skin imprinting me with frustration, exasperation, and expectation. I found myself enjoying a world of adolescent, over-the-top drama with ubiquitous emotions. I loved every second of it. I was so excited to read Captive Films: Season One, giving me an excuse to live in Keatyn's crazy world a little bit longer. However, I was terrified. I loved how Keatyn's story ended. I had closure, a sense of completion. Did I need more? DId I want more? What if Captive Films unclosed my closure?

Like the very conundrum that makes the Keatyn Chronicles so fascinating, my emotions surrounding this new edition were a bit conflicting; conflicting with a tad of indifference. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the more, but the moreness took a while to get use to. If you go into this series with the expectation of a Keatyn Chronicles sequel, you will be disappointed, because this is something different; totally different. It took me about three episodes to get use to the different, and then I became wrapped up in it. Fans of the series will love getting to experience their favorite characters, but the experience is something new and very far from what we've come to associate this series with. Not a bad different, but something you need to be prepared for.

If you're expecting a novel then this isn't it. It's exactly what the description says, these are episodes. This requires a style of writing that's an evolution of what you might be use to.

I chose not to read season one an episode at a time. Instead, I read the entire series straight through, in one sitting, it was addictive. But just like a movie is created in a way that's different from a TV series, this is done in a way that's different from a novel.

It was tough to not want to compare this to the original KC series, it's human nature. In fact, I failed, but doing that held me back in loving this as much as I hoped. It was entertaining and I was thrilled to get more, but I think I entered with an altered expectation making an impossibly out of meeting them.

Thinking about Captive Films as more of a spinoff series (which technically it is) will enhance the overall experience. I'm glad I had the opportunity to read more and I hope there's a season two!
