Saxon Math: 8/7 with prealgebra.

This is an answer key to the math book of the same name.
This is a very helpful tool to have in helping you and your student check answers. It is especially helpful to me, as a refresher to the math problems. If I have to help my daughter with her
homework, checking my own answers is somewhat of a relief! Let's me know I can still remember how to work the problems.

Wow, wish we had changed to use Saxon years ago!!

We have had this product and used it for about 5 months. The solutions manual that can be purchased as well, shows all the steps and not only the answer. It is important to do all the 30 problems each day if you want the good results. The 3rd edition shows the lesson number that the problem comes from (very useful) - worth buying the 3rd edition. In case you were wondering, I am not a math major. Each lesson is short. Since we were new to Saxon, we chose Math 87 instead of Algebra 1/2, because it is the scenic route rather than the direct route to the same goal. The review is perfect and the student is finding it easy. Our previous curriculum did not review often enough. Each day, previous lessons are reviewed in the problems, however, the review is not boring because it gets increasingly more difficult and is not exactly the same everyday. In our previous curriculum, it was explained that the method was mastery and therefore not the spiral approach of boring review, however, this does not work because the student forgets what is not reviewed often enough. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. We have used various Math curriculums before and finally found something excellent.

This book was part of the required study at my daughter's school. The lessons progress quickly for grade 6, but there is sufficient explanations to guide a reluctant math pupil. The title was delivered quickly with no delays.

A mile-marker in the journey of preventive law

This is a first publication of professional work and research in the field of preventive law, a holy grail yet woefully under-pursued in practice. Although corporate lawyers have been called on to facilitate transactions rather than to impede and say "no", the potential of the legal profession's contribution to businesses and society has now been further opened up in the era of "big data". The authors have painstakingly demonstrated a path for lawyers, their clients and the broader value net to focus on activities on the cliff rather than merely settling disputes at the bottom of the cliff, to borrow an analogy from Professor Susskind.

We are looking at not another E-discovery pamphlet, but about preventing the lawsuits that would otherwise engage, among others, E-discovery capabilities. Something else is different - this is a continuous improvement and dynamic exercise rather than a project based exercise. We are looking about something that will involve technology for a much larger processing and storage capacity than the average E-discovery exercise taking place today.

Much work remains in working with unstructured data, and keeping up with dynamic developments in trade and insider terms, but lawyers have been taken one step closer from anec-data to better data with more granularity. As advances such as that pointed out by the authors continue to illuminate the way, the legal profession needs to examine the forces resistant to progress among its members as well as its clients.

A much needed tool to manage litigation risk

Companies generally have two types of internal controls for carrying out their risk management programs: anticipatory controls and investigatory controls. The former is the best type because it prevents something bad from happening whereas the later type deals with figuring out what happened so that appropriate action can be taken. Lawyers are too often involved with the investigatory controls and not involved enough with the anticipatory controls. This has traditionally been due to the lack of tools allowing lawyers to take preventative action. This is no longer the case. Brestoff and Inmon have devised a system that gives lawyers the anticipatory controls they have desperately needed. If you are involved in managing litigation risk or are otherwise interested in how big data can predict litigation, Preventing Litigation is a must read!

It's easy to assume this is a book for and about ...

Everybody needs to be aware of the huge potential benefits to society that this work describes. Brestoff is talking about the legal equivalent of your car's dashboard lights which warn you BEFORE something goes wrong. The legal profession isn't inherently motivated to accept this because it profits handsomely from breakdowns and crashes, but these ideas need to be given due understanding and attention from everybody ELSE!

It's easy to assume this is a book for and about lawyers. Not at all! I think it's really for people in business and governments are incented to enable behaving better. It's especially for organizational professionals who budget for legal fees: READ THIS BOOK and come up with your implementation plan.

This privatization of force not only enables states to circumvent citizens' democratic control over questions of war and peace, but also undermines women's and minority groups' claims for greater inclusion in the military sphere.

Gender and Private Security in Global Politics brings together key scholars from the fields of international relations, security studies, and gender studies to argue that privatization of military security is a deeply gendered process. The chapters employ a variety of feminist perspectives, including critical, postcolonial, poststructuralist, and queer feminist perspectives, as well as a wide range of methodological approaches including ethnography, participant-observation, genealogy, and discourse analysis. This is the first book to develop an extended feminist analysis of private militaries and to draw on feminist concerns regarding power, justice and equality to consider how to reform and regulate private forces.

Great Bible Study!

I am a First Place leader who completed this study in April 2002. My group of 20+ men and women really enjoyed it. Our group lost a total of 200 pounds this session, but many members have said that the thing they enjoy the most about the program is the Bible study. I've completed this one before, but this edition has been re-vamped recently with new content. I think the changes are great! The music CD included with the book is very helpful in memorizing the 10 Bible verses. The music isn't the best in the world, but it can still be a helpful tool. The book comes with the wonderful study, tear-out commitment records, wellness worksheets and more. The first Bible study "Giving Christ First Place" is still my all-time favorite, but this one definitely runs a close 2nd.

This is the second of the First Place Bible studies that I have done. I find it easy to use, not consuming too much time, but providing MUCH food for thought. I especially love the CD's that accompany the studies that help with scripture memorization.

Best Study I've Done So Far

I have completed 4 studies in the First Place series and this one has been the best for me. I am a First Place leader, with a group of 12. Over the past 4 sessions, our group has lost over 200 pounds. Everyday Victory for Everyday People changed so many things in my life. We can have victory in Christ - no matter who we are or what our circumstances. I loved the Scripture Memorization CD - even my pre-teen daughter got into it! I personally lost almost 15 pounds during this 10 week study. You won't be disappointed with it.

I bought the first edition of this book over 8 years ago, and couldn't let it down. "A Brief History of the Caribbean," by Jan Rogozinski simply is one of the most well researched and organized books on Caribbean history ever published. As a Latin American Studies major in college, this book was very reliable and informative in many of studies, and it allowed me, by utilizing the many maps and charts found in the book, to understand the very nature of Caribbean politics, culture, and most importantly, history. Everything from Pre-Colombian civilization to Post-Independence woes are covered here, and the author has released an updated edition with information as recent as of January 1999. I strongly recommend that readers of this book also read "A Continent of Islands," by Mark Kurlansky to gain more knowledge of this beautiful but troubled region.

A Brief History of the Caribbean

Scholarly written and factually correct it reads like a textbook; the main flaw is the style in which it is written. The author digresses with each chapter into material already covered in one or more chapters previous. Thus it is possible to re-read an account of events-nearly verbatim-in two or three different chapters on different islands. This makes comprehension more difficult and resorts to unneeded redundency. Nevertheless, the book is enjoyable, if very slow reading.

A brief history

This book serves ideally as a brief overview of Caribbean History. It does not delve deeply into any specific topic. As a history teacher in the Caribbean I would not hesitate to recommend it to persons who are interested in knowing a little about the history of the Caribbean. Due to its simple language, tables and illustrations, I would also recommend it to my students as an introduction to Caribbean History. This book covers a wide range of topics spanning more than 500 years compactly displayed in 324 pages.
